The Globe wins eight National Newspaper Awards

The Globe and Mail won eight of the 21 categories at the 71st National Newspaper Awards, garnering recognition for journalism that uncovered the SNC-Lavalin affair and broke news on the manhunt for two teen murder suspects who fled British Columbia to the wilds of Manitoba. Its coverage of Canada’s huge data gaps and a meditation on art and climate change were also lauded. Read more…

The Globe and Mail nominated for 19 National Newspaper Awards

The Globe and Mail has received 19 nominations for this year’s National Newspaper Awards, including one recognizing the paper’s role in breaking the story of the attempt of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office to pressure then-justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould to intervene in the prosecution of engineering firm SNC-Lavalin Group Inc.

Globe gets record Society for News Design awards

The Globe and Mail received a record number of awards at the Society for News Design’s recent Best of News Design competition, with at least 25 awards of excellence. The Globe is also one of 11 nominees for World’s Best Designed Newspaper, out of a field of nearly 100 top publications from around the world. A.I. Meets World Wins Canadian Podcast Award

The podcast, which ran for six episodes in 2019, was produced for Microsoft. Listeners joined pop culture aficionado Becky Shrimpton and tech journalist Navneet Alang as they examined the role of AI in our lives and where the technology can take us.

The Globe and Mail receives 17 nominations for 2019 Digital Publishing Awards, more than any other newspaper in Canada

The Globe and Mail has received 17 nominations in 12 different categories for the 2019 Digital Publishing Awards, more than any other newspaper in Canada.

This is the fourth year of the awards, a National Media Awards Foundation program that recognizes excellence in digital editorial content in Canada. Last year, The Globe led the way with 15 wins. Read more…

The Globe and Mail is a finalist for World’s Best Digital Design

The Globe and Mail is a finalist for the prestigious World’s Best Digital Design prize, the top honour from the Society for News Design. The Globe is the only Canadian publication to make the finalist list, and the winner will be announced in April. The Globe also received 15 medals at SND’s annual Best of Digital Design competition, for a wide range of work covering long-form stories, photography, video and explanatory graphics. Read more…
