March 11, 2021

The Globe and Mail received six nominations in the 2021 Global Media Awards by the International News Media Association (INMA). This year’s competition saw finalists drawn from prestigious and innovative media brands in 37 countries.

The Globe will be competing against organizations including Bloomberg Media, South China Morning Post, Nikkei, and The Wall Street Journal. Of the other Canadian companies on the list in the National Brand category, CBC Radio-Canada and the Toronto Star garnered one nomination each.

“The INMA Global Media Awards focus on excellence across all areas of the media business,” says Phillip Crawley, Publisher and CEO of The Globe and Mail. “I’m particularly pleased The Globe was singled out in two areas where we are investing and seeing great success—our subscriber experience and Sophi, our proprietary AI platform that we've also commercialized.”

The Globe was nominated in the following categories:

  • Best Initiative to Retain Subscribers

  • Best Product and Tech Innovation

  • Best Initiative to Register Users

  • Best Initiative to Acquire Subscribers

  • Best Use of Data To Drive Subscriptions, Content, or Product Design

  • Best Use of Data to Automate or Personalise

Winners will be announced on June 3. More information and a full list of nominees is available on the INMA website.
