Susan Irving announced as Jury Chair for the Canadian Young Lions Marketer Competition

February 12, 2020

As the official host of the Canadian Young Lions Competitions, The Globe and Mail is pleased to announce Susan Irving, Chief Marketing Officer for Kruger Products, as Jury Chair for the Canadian Young Lions Marketer Competition.

As Jury Chair, Ms. Irving will play a significant role in shaping the competition brief, selecting the Competition judges, and working with the winning team to prepare them for the global competition in June. She has judged the marketer competition since 2014 and will join Mary Maddever and Cathy Collier, respective chairs of the Print/Digital/Film and Media juries.

“The Young Lions is an incredible competition that gives Canadian talent the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity not only among their peers but globally,” says Ms. Irving. “To be able to serve as Jury Chair and work with the judges and teams is a great honour as well—it’s inspiring to see what great ideas come to the surface.”

Ms. Irving takes over from Mark Childs, Chief Marketing Officer, Metrolinx, who has been Jury Chair since 2007. During his time as Chair, Mr. Childs was pivotal in launching and growing the Marketers competition in Canada and has been a passionate champion of this initiative.

“Mark’s commitment to the role and his staunch support of the Young Lions Marketers competition has made a real difference to so many young marketing professionals in Canada,” says Andrew Saunders, Chief Revenue Officer of The Globe and Mail and Chair, Canadian Cannes Lions Advisory Board. “We truly appreciated his passion and commitment in supporting our next generation of talent in Canada and look forward to working with Susan as the new Jury Chair.”

The registration deadline for the competition is February 24, 2020. For more information about The Globe and Mail’s Young Lions competition, visit globeandmailyounglions.ca.

The Globe and Mail has been the official Canadian representative of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity since 2005, hosting the Canadian Young Lions competitions since 2007 and the Marketers competition since 2012.
